In this year’s Art Karnival, we pull focus to the art of the East, celebrating the leaps and bounds of creative genius and ingenuity found in traditional Chinese craft, Asian and Chinese Contemporary, and those who draw inspiration from its rich tapestry of culture.

Dive into a Karnival of masterpieces from around the world where juxtapositions abound: From tradition to progression, east to west, human to technology, discover a series of large-scale installations, interactive pieces, art-inspired gastronomy, and limited pop-ups today!

Boundless Reverie: Chinese Savoir-Faire and Contemporary Art
Paying tribute to the golden era of cultural exchange between China and Europe, Boundless Reverie: Chinese Savoir-Faire and Contemporary Art, the exhibition supported by SUPREME, a premium brand of Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong, and LG Electronics Hong Kong (LG), showcases a rare, curated selection of gilt-decorated pieces and works by 13 emerging Chinese contemporary artists that look to this shared global heritage.

K11 Artist Prize
K11 Art Foundation International Council will announce the winner of its first contemporary art prize, K11 Artist Prize, in March 2024. An initiative to empower and support the next generation of Asian artists, the K11 Artist Prize recognises artists and their contribution to the rich diversity of contemporary art across Asia.

One of Japan’s most influential masters of photography, Nobuyoshi Araki is renowned for his iconoclastic approach that challenges conventional norms.

Living in Araki’s imagination since childhood, the duality and symbolism of Eros and Thanatos (the drive of life and death) are represented in the artist’s “Flowers” and “Women” works, and a prevalent motif throughout the artist’s oeuvre.

With the title of “Erotos”, the harmony of Eros and Thanatos, coined by the photographer, Nobuyoshi Araki’s “Paradise” HK Pop-up brings over 100 of the photographer’s works to K11 MUSEA’s CEMENT space, with public debuts of never-before-shown instant films, and an immersive visual display area featuring specially sourced work from Araki’s archive.

Presented and curated by pioneering multi-dimensional art space Artelli, co-organised by ARTOX GROUP, with FUJIFILM as title sponsor, the pop-up also features a FUJIFILM experience zone, showcasing Araki’s works through the FP-Z8000/FP-Z6000 projector. Visitors can also try their hand at photography with the instax mini 99 — the latest model of the instax mini, updated for the first time in 11 years.

Dive deeper into the mastery of Nobuyoshi Araki with workshops and talks by MENOS and more, and visit onsite for exclusive merchandise including a deluxe edition of artist-signed instant photography works, slide projector, and more.
